Welcome to Huddersfield Horizon SCITT, where our trainees are at the heart of our curriculum. Get classroom ready with our hands-on teacher training.
A School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme is a hands-on, school based route to teaching. Designed by schools to aspiring teachers, our teacher training offers a practical and immersive approach to teacher training, ensuring trainees gain real classroom experience from day one.
WHY CHOOSE OUR SCITT?
✓ TRAIN IN SCHOOLS FROM DAY ONE - Train in a real environment, learning directly from experienced teachers and mentors.
✓ PERSONALISED SUPPORT - Receive tailored guidance and one to one mentoring throughout your training year.
✓ HIGH EMPLOYMENT RATES - Many SCITT trainees secure teaching positions within their placement schools or our trust schools.
✓ EARN QTS AND PGCE - Successfully completing the course leads to Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) accredited by the University of Huddersfield.
HOW IT WORKS?
⇒ SCHOOL PLACEMENTS - Train and teach in two different schools for a diverse experience. Learn effective classroom management, lesson planning, and teaching strategies.
