COVID - 19 Safeguarding Update

Schools are to remain closed until further notice, except to children of key workers and vulnerable pupils, as part of the UK’s national response to the coronavirus outbreak. The way schools and colleges are currently operating in response to coronavirus (COVID-19) is fundamentally different to business as usual. Most children are no longer in a school setting and staff numbers have been affected by the outbreak. Schools have been asked to provide care for children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at homeduring the COVID 19 outbreak.

Are you wanting to join the best profession in the world?

Do you have the passion, empathy and knowledge to make a difference to the lives of young people?

Are you wanting to expand your own horizon?

Here at the Huddersfield Horizon SCITT, we firmly believe that young people have the fundamental right to the BEST education, led by the BEST practitioners. We are strongly committed to recruiting the most passionate and dedicated people to join our professional and supportive teacher training programme.

School Centred Initial Teacher Training

SCITT courses generally last one year, with many including a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) and/or Master’s-level credits.

Training as part of a SCITT gives you the opportunity to learn ‘on the job’ from the very beginning. You will benefit from working and learning every day in a school and getting an immediate insight into what teaching involves.

But this doesn’t mean you’ll be teaching classes before you’ve had a chance to find your feet. You’ll have an extended support network of experienced teachers and mentors on hand to help you throughout your course. The school you’re with won’t ask you teach classes unsupported until they think you’re ready.

The PGCE element of the programme carries 60 credits towards a Masters qualification and is accredited through Sheffield Hallam University. Link Tutors from the University deliver the PGCE modules at the SCITT Centre-these form four training days throughout the year.
